Casey Rolfes: Fashionista of the Week

Infamous for inspiring outfit envy throughout the school, this week’s Fashionista of the Week is none other than sophomore Casey Rolfes.
Rolfes describes her style as “something your grandmother would wear, but with ripped jeans.” Thus, it isn’t a shock that she also prefers classic fashion to fast fashion. She especially loves the concept that a piece of clothing can be timeless, which checks out with her nostalgic taste. In her endeavor to further her closet, her favorite store to shop at is Reformation (to all you earth nerds out there, yes, it’s sustainable). Unfortunately, that can be a bit pricey, so she also frequents Urban Outfitters, Madewell, and the Gap for more moderately-priced clothes. On average, she goes shopping about once a month. Ironically, she cites her largest clothing influences for her classic taste as social media, (namely Instagram), and fashion blogs. Two of her favorite influencers and blogs respectively are Arielle Charnas of Something Navy and Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat. If you’ve never heard of those before and are looking for some fashion direction, I would highly encourage you to go check those out.
As Rolfes’ favorite trend is layering, it comes as no surprise that her favorite fashion season is the winter. She describes her go-to outfit as “jeans, a black turtleneck, black boots, a belt, and literally any t-shirt, sweater, cardigan, or jacket over it.” Although that description may give the impression that she likes to play it safe, I can assure you that Rolfes is not afraid to experiment. For example, recently she has been trying out metal mixing with her jewelry. She highly recommends this to anyone as a way to elevate any outfit. On a broader note, she encourages anyone looking to up their style to seek inspiration from those they admire, and to then adapt it to themselves to make the look as true-to-self as possible.
The epitome of cool, not only does Rolfes dress exceptionally well on the daily, but she also kills it with her extracurriculars. She has served as a student representative on the class of 2022 student council since her freshman year. She is a huge asset to both the Needham High School varsity soccer and winter track teams. As if she isn’t already well-rounded enough, she is also a recognized ballroom dancing national champion. Needless to say, this fashionista is pretty good at everything she attempts.
Her words of advice to others? “If you love an item of clothing but don’t want to wear it because you think people will judge you, WEAR IT. You will be surprised at how good it feels to wear clothes for yourself, just because you love them, rather than to blend in.”
