Reclaiming Glory

Chelsea looks to rebound from a dismal season and get back to their winning ways next season

There is no hiding the fact that Chelsea’s 2022/23 season has not gone their way. Chelsea’s change of ownership, 600 million spent on transfers with no vision, injuries, and the lack of team spirit have all led to their terrible season. 2022 Russia invaded and occupied parts of Ukraine in major escalation of the Russian-Ukraine War. Russia and many wealthy Russian individuals like Roman Abramovich, who owned Chelsea, faced sanctions. Due to the sanctions the club was unable to sell tickets, merchandise, or sign new players, therefore unable to make money. Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club after 20 years of ownership. On May 25, 2022, the British government approved the 4.6 billion dollar sale of the club to Todd Boehly.

In total Chelsea has had four managers this season. After only the preseason and one month of the 2022/23 season, the widely respected and successful Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, was fired on September 7th. Only a day later, the rushed decision to appoint Graham Potter was made. Graham Potter had a terrible spell at chelsea and is a major reason why they failed miserably this season. His tactics in leadership failed at Chelsea as shown by the 11 wins out of 31 games, the unflattering nicknames given to him by the players, and 11th place in the league. Graham Potter is a major but not the only contributor to this catastrophe as shown when he was fired and  Frank Lampard was appointed. Chelsea continued to lose and were eliminated from the Champions League, Frank Lampard has ruined his reputation at Chelsea and should be immediately arrested along with Graham Potter. New managers but the same results, new trash arrivals and injuries might be to blame.

Euduard Mendy , Armando Broja, Reece James, N’golo Kante, Mason Mount, Marc Cucurella, Ben Chiwell, and Mateo Kovacic have all been injured throughout the season which has messed up the flow and tempo of the team. Already having to constantly change the team due to injuries, new arrivals like Benoit Badishile, loanee Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling,  and the racist Ukrainian Refugee Mudryk, who I believe was only purchased as a laundering scheme to fund Ukraine, have made it worse by underperforming. The morale of the team is clearly gone and just like the fans they are glad it's over, but they have no one to blame but themselves.

Moving on from the disappointment the team has brought upon the fans. The future is exciting as a new experienced manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has already been chosen. This is a major step but the next one is even more important, and it is getting rid of all the deadwood in the team. Hakim Zyiech, the once called ‘Lebron James of soccer’ Christian Pulisic, Lukaku, Sterling,  Hudson Adoi, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Marc Cucurella, kepa, Mendy, should all be sold and never set foot on any Chelsea Facility after consistently putting on bad performances. As a matter of fact they should be arrested and never see daylight again. The team needs new, promising and world class players like Victor Oshimen, Christopher Nkunku, Andre Onana, Declan Rice, Manu Kone, and Manuel Ugarte. Mark my words with the new manager and players, Chelsea will win the 23/24 Premier League after this horrific season, just like they did in the 16/17 season. In the 24/25 season Chelsea will 100% become champions league winners for the third time.
