Waking up early in the morning can be a highly exhausting routine for many students across the nation but not for one 11th grade Neuwirth scholar. You see, Hebert Estrada has attended Alliance Patti and Peter Neuwirth Leadership Academy for 3 years now and every day is a new adventure that he takes on.
Hebert begins his day at 7:30 am to the sound of his alarm. Unlike a majority of people Hebert does not hit the snooze button and instead gets up immediately to tackle the day. He springs out of bed and begins to iron his clothes that he will wear to school. Many may think that ironing your clothes everyday is too much work but for Hebert it is nothing but a necessity.
After ironing his clothes, Hebert makes his way to the restroom where he brushes his teeth while taking a seat on the tub and scrolling through TikTok for around 3-5 minutes. Dentists and many professionals only recommend brushing your teeth for 2 mins but Hebert goes above and beyond. Hebert then hops in the shower for around 10 mins and proceeds to change into his freshly ironed clothes all while scrolling on TikTok. Hebert then begins his trek to school as he leaves his house around 8:20 and arrives at school around 8:27. Hebert used to roll into school on his bike but unfortunately it has a flat tire and is currently under repair.
In school Hebert can’t wait for one of his favorite times of the day, lunch. When asked about what his favorite school lunches were he said the tamales because they’re something that he is familiar with cooking. After consuming his school lunch Hebert engages in his daily tradition of using the school restroom. A tradition that many of his classmates can vouch for and associate Hebert with. When asked what takes him so long when using the restroom Hebert revealed that while in the restroom he likes to play with his... Leg. Not only that but he enjoys sitting on the toilet and watching even more TikTok. Of course, in other cases, it just takes him a while to “unload”.
Hebert’s routine ends with his favorite part of day, night time. Hebert stated that he enjoys the night because it is one of the only times where he can have his alone time to sit and think and not have to worry about others bothering him. After his nightly session of critical thinking, Hebert prepares to go to bed by brushing his teeth again for 3-5 minutes while scrolling on TikTok and undressing all the way down to his underwear for his nightly snooze
Hebert manages to light up any room that he steps in with his amazing and unique personality. His ability to speak openly about anything he wants attracts many people to want to be his friend and converse with him. And Hebert feels the same way as he states that he is able to speak his mind because he looks to make friends all the time and converse. Although Hebert is slightly afraid of embarrassment and to share his opinion sometimes he still manages to overcome that fear and do whatever makes him happy.
AP United States History teacher, Mr. Winchell, is currently one of Hebert's biggest inspirations. When asked about what he loves about Hebert Mr. Winchell stated that Hebert is always eager to learn and always had a willingness to have a good time while learning. Winchell continues saying that Hebert doesn’t take himself too seriously and is able to have a self-deprecating humor in a way that is not demeaning, which is what makes him so unique.
Overall Hebert believes that everyone should try and have a better attitude towards everything and smile more as he can state from experience that it definitely helps in enjoying everything more. Hebert also suggests others step out of their comfort zone and talk to other people more in order to make more connections and friends because in the end that's all that matters.
