The ASB has multiple components to it that allows it success, different positions with people voted into them. However, from an outsider’s perspective, it isn’t really known what those people actually do. What does the president do? How about the Vice President or the Secretary of Public Relations? Well, the Treasurer position is occupied by Daniel Dominguez; in the interview we got with him, we are able to get an overview of his duties and other insights of the money man.
From the first couple of questions we were able to know some of his duties as Neuwirth’s designated money man - he manages the funds for ASB events. As the Executive Treasurer, he is the main one, he is the one at the top so most of the approvals regarding finances and such end up going to him and he finalizes the ones for other grade levels as well. He also stated that despite what people may think, the events that ASB holds, such as the creampie teacher thing, the candy grams, etc., make good profit for them and they turn in good money for the amount spent. All in all, it is up to Daniel to record and count up the money that comes in and out of ASB and to then decide how they will be spending their money.
With all of this responsibility, how does he feel about his own abilities in this position? Well, first we asked him why he wanted the position of treasurer in the first place and he responded “I wanted to participate more in school and make senior year the best year for my precious friends,” (so obviously he wanted something to put on his resume and make him look much better when he applied to college.) Big D also stated that he believes he is doing fine as this is his first year in the student council, with no prior experience and no past records to learn from, he ensures that the duties he takes on are completed (He seems to be quite confident in his abilities of making google sheets and doing simple math).
Although having confidence in yourself is a good thing, what ultimately matters most is what people think of you. Leonardo Mungia, one of Big Money Maker Daniel’s colleagues stated the following, “He does basic math quite well; however, he doesn’t have some aspects, such as leadership. But he does a good job as treasurer, he does ask for help sometimes. Pretty good, couldn't ask for a better one, hope next year Daniel has an heir that could replicate what he does now.” Despite his colleague’s observation that he may not have great leadership skills, his contributions as the school treasurer have been nothing short of amazing. Daniel’s inhuman ability to do basic math and be consistently reliable has granted him the utmost respect among his peers. Another interviewee, Luis Orellana, gave us a description of Daniel, “He gets the work done fast and is very efficient. The only part that takes time would be making decisions on what to buy on Amazon.” Regardless of this minor setback, which is the result of the immense amount of work and responsibility he has, Daniel’s dedication has made him a valuable member of the school community and he must be recognized. The school’s financial affairs are being expertly managed with extreme precision and efficiency by Daniel Dominguez which has played a critical role in ASB’s success. Without Hitmanleader_Daniel, ASB would be nothing.
In closing remarks, we asked Daniel how it felt winning an unchallenged position and he responded by saying that it was “EZ money,” and he implied that other people were simply too scared to go against him, he also proclaimed himself “They call me the three legged stool, like Ronald Reagan's economics”
