A recent visitor to Neuwirth, who asked to remain anonymous, reported that they were shocked upon observing classes to find a troubling amount of "undersized” students in the classrooms. According to this educational professional, "I thought Neuwirth was a high school, which is usually full of teenagers, but I swear I saw a bunch of... kids... like little kids in the desks." Assuming that this educational professional was mistaken, The Neuwirth Times decided to look into this report and discovered that, in fact, there is a controversial practice being employed to increase enrollment.
Neuwirth is now allowing elementary school students who are under 5 '0 into taking their courses at a high school for $25. Not only are students not ready for this, but this business is stealing money from our children when they can use that money to buy their necessary junk food and toys. You, a totally normal high school student, have 5th and 6th graders in your classroom at the same level as you. Mr. Bragg, the AP Lang teacher who is against this change, has 4 students in every class newly enrolled due to this new policy, “How am I supposed to teach my students when they don't know the difference between their, they’re, and there.” Students have also come out to share their stories of discomfort with this new rule. One of our tallest seniors, Sebastian Rendon stated, “Being tall is hard because you become a beacon to all these short fellas walking by you, you have to watch your step to make sure you don't accidentally knock over someone you happen to tower over.” He mentioned that on multiple occasions he has accidentally squashed some of the younger students as he was walking. Are we really going to let that happen?
Look at these uncomfortable height differences:
I get Alliance is a College Ready School as their mission is set as “We are driven to prove all kids, soon even your newborns, can be college-ready if you apply with us” but are we really starting that young? Alliance and the College Board System needs to get a reality check. Rather than opening it up to the young ones, they need to set realistic goals for the students that are accepted at the school. Any child that wants to enter our college level classes must be 5’4 in order to enroll into the class & must look like they belong with the actual high school students on campus. They must be as mature as our grown Seniors, as quiet as our Sophomores, have the humble and modest attitudes of our Juniors, and the professionality of our Freshmans. If this change is necessary, let it be done properly. Students, Teachers, Parents, please voice your opinion, don’t let our schools be overrun by children. Soon we could even see a 5’0 tall 5th grader as our School Principal.
