There’s a new pandemic at Neuwirth. No, it’s not another round of COVID; the Class of 2023 has been affected by senioritis *gasp* and it's making students feel overwhelmed with the amount of school work they've been getting. It has been taking a toll on them mentally and physically. This message shouldn’t be taken lightly as it is affecting our studious and committed seniors. In a recent news story that appeared on a television news station, the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) stated that “As a community we must come together to end senioritis as it is affecting these hard working students” said chief Andrew Hernandez.
Our amazing teachers have been working nonstop day and night to fight this illness. They determinedly have increased the workload hoping that it will make students feel like themselves again. For example, the 12th grade English teacher, Ms. Moreno stated that “students need to be prepared for college so that's why I give assignments everyday because it's good for their mental health”.
Cases began popping up as soon as the second semester started, and we can only hope that these students make it to their day of graduation. I can already imagine half of the class gone by then. Please parents make sure that your children are getting properly checked by a doctor if they are experiencing symptoms of laziness, repeated absences, or even missing assignments.
Before senioritis, everyone’s grades were so good with A’s and B’s, but since the spread of senioritis, grades began to drop to C’s, D’s and even worse J’s. According to the data “the number of tardies has increased by 3405%” This is a nationwide disease so don't not take this lightly. Senioritis has its own prevention line please call (323- GET-LAZY) to get steer clear of senioritis. In order to avoid this disease, the most protective steps are to skip senior year entirely and go straight to college or start working. At McDonalds the other day, I heard a highly happy worker mention they are always desperate for new workers but only demand you to be free of Senioritis disease to protect their customers.
Parents please do not let your children come to school if they exhibit senioritis. If possible please lock them in a room with lots of textbooks and lots of water. It will be highly appreciated. Make sure to stay five feet away from every senior you see, sometimes if you show them a book right in their face they might start to run away. Seniors please enjoy this year while it lasts because not all students will get to experience it.
