Huge I-Ready Progress Shown; Calls for a Celebration Echo at Neuwirth

By: Heffrey Jernandez

Ms. Moreno’s 12th grade, 6th period English class is not an AP class by any means, but God dammit, do they take monumental steps. The steps that these students have taken rivals those that Neil Armstrong took whilst traversing the moon for the first time in history.

After the first round of I-Ready testing, they were at the bottom of the bottom, with a class average reading level of 7th grade. But after the second round, my goodness, 3 grades, 3 WHOLE grades of change. Every other class experienced 1 grade of change or less.

When you look at it that way, you can clearly see that this 6th period is not like the rest. They are simply better at making changes and getting things done. With this progress there are big expectations held to them for the upcoming third and final round of I-ready testing.

The only question that remains is how? How have they been able to make such changes while others choke? In a closed door interview with Ms. Moreno about her success as a teacher she gave some insight on this matter, saying that,  “...These 6th period kids are some of the hardest workers. They come in everyday ready to learn and never miss a day.  Every even-day, I’m so excited to see my 6th period students because I know that there will be some good learning today. They always participate and they always do their work on time.”

I cried. This interview brought a tear to my eye. I am currently crying like a little girl right now just remembering what she talked about. This 6th period class is outstanding. They deserve all the praise that comes their way. A celebration. That is what is needed for them. Studies need to be done on them to be able to see how such growth was shown. Truly defied expectations. Can’t wait to see what this class does next.

Correction: It has come to the publisher's attention that the class mentioned in the above article went from a 7th grade reading level to a 4th grade reading level. Whoever wrote this is clearly delusional. Buddy needs to take his meds, don’t worry, we’ll take him to the proper psych ward where he will get the help he needs. The class has somehow reached a new low. How could it be possible for a senior class to have a reading level 3 times lower than it should be?

Accurate representation of the reading level progress of the class.
