Love is in the air. These are some of the people, places, and things (mostly pets) that we love.
Love: A deep, tender, strong feeling of affection towards a person, place, or thing. As Valentine's day approaches, I like to think about the other forms of love because love is so extensive. The Neuwirth Times staff was asked to reflect on some things they love and it is surprising to see how everyone is in love with such amazing things that bring them distinct joy.
"My first thought was to say books but in light of trying to beat some nerd allegations, I will not be going with that response. If we aren't speaking about materialistic things, my response would be my friends. I know it's such a basic response but my friends truly are some of the best people in my life and they're the first people I was ever able to be my true self around. They provided me with a completely safe space to share things that I would be terrified to share with even my own parents and on top of that, they never cease to bring joy into my life which I'll forever be grateful for. I'm quite literally in love with my closest friends (platonically so because they still kind of suck) and I couldn't ask for better people in my life.” (Cinthia Lopez, 12)
“I love Popeyes. I love the smell of the grease when I walk through those doors of Heaven. I love the way the dry, Saharan desert biscuit robs me of hydration. If Popeyes has a million fans, I am one of them. If Popeyes has ten fans, I am one of them. If Popeyes only has one fan, that is me. If Popeyes has no fans, that means I am no longer on the Earth. If the world's against Popeyes, I am against the world. I love #Popeyes till my last breath.. .. Die Hard fan of Popeyes. Hit Like If you Think Messi Best player & Smartest In the world 😀” (Jeffrey Hernandez, 12)
“Someone that I love is of course my girlfriend and second, my family. Every day I wake up to my parent's comfort and my brother's little laugh as they get ready for school. My mother's cooking gives me the energy that I need for the rest of the day. Once I get to school I get greeted with the most beautiful smile in the whole world which makes my day even better. When I'm at my lowest, both find a way to cheer me up. Both of them make me happy and that's why I love them” (JC Garcia, 11)
And of course, when it comes to love, our pets are the highest object of our affection.
“I love animals, but the one I love the most is my dog: Summer. She's incredibly nice and the cutest pitbull and, in my opinion, the best one. She's always there to make me and my family happy and laugh when we're going through hard times.” ( Julian Montoya, 12 )
“For the past eight years, I have loved Sadie, my terrier mixed poodle. We have grown together and she enjoys belly rubs and making a mess, I couldn't imagine my life without her.” (Amy Calderon, 12)
“I really love my dog who is colored, black and white. His name is Coco and I've had him for 9 years.” (Steven Flores, 12)
“My dog is something I really love. I enjoy walking back home and seeing her there. Being able to be with her is the most important thing of the day.” (Hely Quintero, 11)
In conclusion, valentine's day is about being grateful for the things you love. whether that's your pet, Popeye's, or a partner, surround yourself with the things you love most and spread that love to others around you.
