“Avatar: The Way of Water” has made billions of dollars, but is it any good?
Today we will be talking about “Avatar: The Way of the Water", a sequel to the original “Avatar” movie that was launched on December 18, 2009. In my personal opinion it was an amazing movie. The graphics and CGI (computer-generated imagery) were some of the best ever. The way the sky is realistic and the water and wildlife moves around was really incredible. The GCI and effects bring you into a new world and makes you feel like you're a part of their world by seeing all the skies, waters, animals and living experiences of the characters.
The story has a lot of meaningful parts and stories for the main characters and even the side characters showing the connections between them. One meaningful part of the movie that I liked is when Lo'ak made a bond with the abandoned Payakan cause they both felt that they didn’t belong in their families like they were a disappointment. I think this is a message that many of us can relate to.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, 92% of people enjoyed the movie. The most common response from those that enjoyed the movie said it was absolutely stunning and had them hooked. About half of viewers liked how this movie connected so well with the last Avatar movie by keeping it in the same location but adding a new plot and more side characters to expand on the rich world building of the movie.
Not everyone was so pleased. Some people didn’t enjoy that after waiting 13 plus years the plot was not what they were expecting and the movie did not have enough action. A few people elaborated and said it was vibrant, but it was too long and after a while their eyes started to get tired or burned.
Overall, I would recommend this movie if you liked the first “Avatar." It has more action and builds off the same place but with different adventures and problems for the main characters. Definitely check it out in the movie theaters to get the full experience.
