Gift Exchange Ideas on Christmas

White elephant consists of everyone participating to buy a gift around the same value, depending on the price limit that everyone agreed on. The person that got first chooses first and picks any of the gifts they want, they have to open the gift and make sure everyone sees it. The second person to choose either has the option of stealing the gift from the previous person or pick any of the gifts and it goes on like that till the last person chooses. This makes Christmas exciting and competitive, you are able to have a fun time with friends or family.

This gift exchange idea does not require a lot of time. You can start by writing the names of the people who are going to participate on sticky notes. You can then continue to fold the notes into small squares and place them into a bowl. Moving forward, you can pass the bowl around and announce to everyone that each person is responsible for getting a sticky note. After everyone has a sticky note and has read the name within the note, you can come to an agreement about the price limit. The gift exchange can take place on either Christmas Eve or Christmas. Christmas stocking is also a common and simple gift exchange idea. Decorating and filling up a Christmas stocking is a way of showing your appreciation and love to loved ones. If you are indecisive or not sure about what you want to place into the stocking, you can ask the person who you are planning to give it to what they like. After you have a close idea about what they like, you can go to the store and buy the items. If you are unable to find out what they like, you can buy simple gifts such as gift cards, lip balm and socks. You can then continue to place the items into the stocking and write their name on the outside. The next step would be to give the stocking to the person on Christmas Eve or Christmas day.

Left-Right is a fun game to exchange gifts too. As usual every person participating has to bring a gift they are going to exchange, make sure they are wrapped beforehand. Everyone needs to be seated in a circle and a moderator or someone needs to read a story that is filled with the words left and right. Everytime the reader says the word left, everyone passes their gift to the left. Everytime the word right is mentioned, everyone passes their gift to the right and it goes on like that until the story ends. There are specific stories that can be used like “Ribbons and Bows” “Christmas Parade” or “The Christmas Tree” and many more.
