Jocelynne Cambonchi is a very hardworking student. She has been a role model for others by being involved in her community since the 8th grade and still to this day. Jocelynne has been balancing school and extracurriculars ever since and her hard work has paid off as she is in the top ten of her class and was offered admission from 8 out of the 9 schools she applied to. Although she is very committed to her schoolwork and grades, there’s more to Jocelynne than meets the eye.
When asked about her hobbies Jocelynne said, “I enjoy listening to music, taking photographs, going on walks, and baking sweets. I don’t think I have any niche hobbies, does pestering Bragg count?” Jocelynne also enjoys singing. I speak from experience as I have unwillingly witnessed her sing. Jocelynne says her favorite songs to sing to her friends are “During Christmas, Last Christmas by Wham!, but my all time favorite is Califronia Girls by Katy Perry.” She laughs saying “You know I can do Nicki Minaj’s verse in Beauty and the Beat by Justin Bieber?” Jocelynne is not only a bruin but a barb too! Who knew?
Jocelynne will be attending UCLA in the fall of 2023. She will be majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Data Science and Engineering. If you don’t know what that means look it up because neither do I. To get this far Jocelynne has had to sacrifice a lot. When asked about managing school work and extracurriculars Cambonchi stated, “Yes, it can be overwhelming at times but I remind myself that it’ll pay off some day. Maybe not today or tomorrow and I’m okay with that. The grind never stops.”
Cinthia Lopez, a close friend of Jocelynne, has witnessed the one with the sauce in her element of being an exemplary student and is proud of how far her friend has come. When asked about her thoughts on Jocelynne’s success Cinthia stated, “Hell yeah. Though it scares me sometimes, I'm amazed by how her mind works and how far it has gotten her. She’s going to UCLA and studying something that I can never dream of understanding, she’s amazing."
Although her journey has been stressful, Jocelynne never loses her motivation. Especially not to the haters, “I don’t let the hate get to me and I actually find it pretty funny. The comments I get from Elias & Angel keep me entertained during class. I get a good laugh out of them. Plus they have like 1 brain cell combined - so it really isn’t that deep.”
Jocelynne is unstoppable not only with her unique singing but her drive to be the best as well. Jocelynne will continue to strive for the best in college, with the support of her friends and motivation from her haters.
