Have you ever been walking down your neighborhood and look around at your neighbors Halloween decorations just to spot a families impressive homemade jack o'lantern and wonder how you could make one yourself. Well look no further, today I'm going to teach you how to carve a pumpkin for yourself this Halloween.
The list things you'll need to accomplish this
Pumpkin
Pen, marker or pencil
Knife
Rubber gloves or any gloves that are disposable
Candle
Lighter
Paper towels
Apron(optional)
Okay now that you have collected the supplies after telling your parents to take you to Food 4 less, try to organize your supplies in order to prevent them from being all over the place. Now that you have on that cute apron your mom let you borrow let's get ready to make a jack-o’lantern!
Alrighttttt!!!!!
First, grab your apron and put it on, next mark the pumpkin with a pen, marker, or pencil and outline a mouth, eyes, and nose on your pumpkin.Just like this
Image of Jack o'lanterns on a porch .
Second, draw a big circle on the top of the pumpkin like this
Third, after you have marked the pumpkin you’re going to grab your knife and start cutting the top of the pumpkin then take off the top and leave it aside as you'll need it for later.
Forth, rip out the pulp, seeds, and strings out like a psychotic serial killer ripping out the guts of their victims muahaha.
Okay now that you have gotten rid of the pulp completely you can either throw it away or save it to make spices, cake, and more but I'm not here to teach you that…Anyways, this process will look like this.
The fifth and final step, use your knife and start cutting out the eyes, nose, and mouth that you had marked earlier with your marker. Make sure to be careful when cutting the shapes out. You can throw those pieces out if you wish to.
This step is optional but if you wish to you can grab a candle, place it inside the pumpkin and use your lighter to light the candle inside the pumpkin, grab the top of the pumpkin, that you left on the side, and place it on top of the pumpkin to cover the top of it. Clean yourself with the napkins you have left on the table before your mom screams at you like a monster.
Congratulations you have created a masterpiece! Now all you have to do is place your pumpkin outside next to your door or wherever you wish to show off the fantastic jack o'lantern that you have made.
You'll enjoy this activity if you haven't done it yet, Wendy Carrasco, the person that helped carve the pumpkins shown in the images, says that she believes that she has carved one before but this will technically be her first. She states that her experience with carving a pumpkin was “fun, would probably do it again” She would keep giving positive opinions about this activity, “It's a very fun bonding experience and its nice decor.”
Now that you have included some of the Halloween spirit into your household, might as well join your mom in posting it on social media after she had posted it on Facebook.Halloween has brought a lot of trends to social media that you can try yourself, all you have to do is follow the same steps until the third and final step. You will need the same materials just not the candle and lighter. After you have finished the steps, skipping three and five, just carve a hole under the pumpkin the same size as your head.
Now that you have done the steps correctly you can put the pumpkin on your head and take pictures to post on social media or keep it to yourself for the spooky memories!
