Mrs. Schiess' Classroom
Welcome to second grade in room 332!
My name is Kelly Schiess and I am excited to be your child's teacher this year. I am hoping this year will be a time of academic and social growth. To help ensure this year is positive and productive, I would like to inform you of a few second grade expectations.
Homework will be sent home Monday through Thursday. Please review the homework with your child, and make sure it is returned on time. I will use the Pleasant Prairie folder distributed at Open House for the daily homework folder. Homework will begin on September 10th.
As many of you already know, Pleasant Prairie Elementary promotes an ethical learning community that shares responsibility for character education and adheres to the same core values to guide the students. Respect, responsibility, and citizenship will be taught and practiced in room 332, as well as throughout the building. The second grade trait is compassion.
A little about me
I started my teaching career in Kenosha Unified Schools in 1999. I have worked at Frank, Nash, Bullen and Pleasant Prairie Elementary School. The majority of those years have been spent teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I obtained my master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University, and my reading teacher certification from Carthage College. I live in Pleasant Prairie with my husband and two boys. Both of my boys attended Pleasant Prairie, and are now in 7th and 8th grade. I have a Cocker Spaniel named Nina. She is a spunky dog that makes our family complete.
