Math Assignments are under the ASSIGNMENT Tab on this site.
Students were asked to look at the set of numbers and decide which one didn't belong and why? They thought alone, discussed with their table group, then shared with the class. What great observations that were made. By the way, there is no right or wrong answer, just seeing number sense.
Watch the Video Fizz, or Google Slide Presentation to the left, of the students working together to complete 3 tasks reviewing multiplication/division of fractions and converting fractions, decimals, and percents:
- Find and explain the error in the multiplication or division of fractions problem and correct it
- Solve multiplication and division of fractions
- Complete the maze by converting the fractions, decimals, and percents
Watch the Video Fizz or Google Slide Presentation on the right. Students worked on a challenging number sense problem. They had 10 minutes to find as many solutions to the problem using the digits 0-9 only once, with no repeats per solution. A group in third hour found 17 possible solutions! The groups then shared one of their solutions. These can be seen at the end of the presentation. Great day listening to math talk and watching the kids work together problem solving.
Watch the Video Fizz or Google Slide Presentation on the left. Students worked creating the scale for their Weekly Student Grade Tracker Google Sheets and on uploading math work samples onto their Digital Portfolios. If time allowed, they were able to find pictures to upload onto their 6th Grade page.
Watch the Video Fizz or Google Slide Presentation showing the students working on Number Sense by completing a mental math string. Then, students boarded a plane to practice reading and solving coordinate grid problems via a digital breakout.
