The Ways of the Force

Vikram A, Jeffrey H

Yoda is a Jedi who can use the Force in Star Wars and who says 'Do or do not, there is no try' in one of the movies.

The equations surrounding Yoda are all equations for force. Force of gravity between two objects of mass m and M with centers of mass a distance r apart is F = GMm/r, where G is the universal gravitational constant, 6.67 times 10^-11 Nm^2/kg^2. Electromagnetic force on a particle of charge q by an electric field of magnitude E is F=qE. The force of a spring is F=-kx, where k is the spring constant and x is the distance away from equilibrium that the string is stretched. Centripetal force on a mass M travelling at velocity v a distance r from the center of the circle it is moving around is F=Mv^2/r. The force on a current carrying wire of length l (L) with current I (i) in a magnetic field B is F= IlB. The force on a particle of charge q travelling at velocity v through a magnetic field B is F=qvBsin(angle between them) (since it's a cross product).
