Mural reads: And the stopcock is essential to the acid-base titration; pop; Dee Dee!!!
A good stopcock is important to a titration because adding very small amounts of titrant (solution in the buret being added to the beaker/flask) is required for exactly reaching the equilibrium point (where the H+/OH- ions added are exactly equal to the OH-/H+ ions in the original solution). The stopcock can be quickly twisted and untwisted to add a single drop (or even a fraction of a drop) to the flask.
The characters in this mural are from the cartoon network show 'Dexter's Laboratory.' Dexter is the red-haired boy, and Dee Dee (blond haired girl) is his older sister, who is infamous for messing up his experiments.
