Translation is when a protein is created using the genetic code found in messenger RNA (mRNA). The mRNA sequence is read through codons. A codon is a set of three letters that corresponds to a specific amino acid, the building blocks of proteins. UAG is a stop codon that shows translation is done. This mural is a stop sign, but in place of ¨stop¨, it says ¨UAG¨ since UAG is a stop codon.
