Normal force in physics is the force opposing gravity, the force of a surface (such as the student's hand) pushing up on an object (the block). When the object is not on a slope, both the force of gravity and the normal force equal mg, since there is no acceleration in the vertical direction and the sum of forces has to equal mass times acceleration, which is 0, according to Newton's 2nd law. Speaking of F(orces), Mr. Curtis the physics teacher is giving the student in front of the whiteboard an F.
In Star Wars (where you can also find R2-D2, star destroyers, x-wings, and the death star), Jedi like Obi Wan Kenobi can use the Force to levitate objects, exerting a 'Jedi force' on them.
