HUMANS

The animals appear to be arranged loosely by trophic level. The plant/insect eating species are near the bottom, the species that eat them are higher, and the species that eat them are at the top. Humans are above even these animals and are depicted by a skull because we kill everything, whether directly for food or sport, or indirectly through pest control or environmental degradation.
