D orbitals

These are images of the d orbitals of the electron cloud model (developed by Heisenberg and Schrodinger), which shows where an election is most likely to be. The s orbitals (of which there is one per energy level) are spheres centered at the origin, the p orbitals (of which there are three per energy level) are composed of two lobes that lie across from each other on the axis (so there is px, py, and pz), and the d orbitals are pictured above. The orbitals are filled with electrons in order (s, p, d, f). The dz2 orbital has a ring around the middle that reminds many people of a donut, leading to the pun in this mural.
