Mural reads: Barbie! ; Ken! ; My, but isn't this a beautiful day, Ken? ; It's always extra beautiful when I'm with you, Barbie; Ooo Ken; Ooo Barbie; Say, does the sun seem unusually bright to you, Ken? ; Actually, now that you mention it; Gosh, you don't think that it has anything to do with the depletion of the earth's ozone layer? ; Gee, I sure hope not; If only I hadn't used so much hairspray back in the '60s! ; If only I knew what an ozone layer was! ; Aaaaaa! ; Aaaaaa! ; 'Barbie and Ken: A Cautionary Tale;' Next up: the trolls discover acid rain.
This mural reminds viewers of the negative consequences of ozone depletion. The ozone layer absorbs harmful UV rays, so when it is depleted (by chlorofluorocarbons/freons from aerosol cans, air conditioning, etc), it can no longer do so, and people more easily burn in the sun, increasing the likelihood of skin cancer.
