Q. Is there any Music Theory element to the course?

A. No. You will not be assessed on Music Theory

Q. Will I need my own studio at home?

A. You will need computer software in order to practise skills learnt in class. Fortunately, there are lots of options and many are free. We recommend ‘Waveform’ by Tracktion if you do not have anything you currently use (or you’d like to try something else). It is free and useable on both Windows and Mac computers.

Q. Do I need to play an instrument?

A. Due to the nature of the work some keyboard skills would be beneficial, but you can create music without playing the keyboard.

Q. Will I need my own headphones?

A. Yes! If you are looking for a new pair then please contact rob.cavill@qmc.ac.uk for information and help buying, as it does depend on how much you have to spend.
