This week in Mrs Blake’s Honors Language Arts class we watched the Truman Show. The Truman Show was released in 1998, and has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score. The reason we are watching this is because of the media unit we are doing in Honors ELA. The movie is about a man's life (Truman) on a set. He is getting watched by thousands on their television, but he doesn’t know that. He thinks he is living a perfectly normal life. So to create some sort of a plot in the movie, Truman starts to realize that everything around him is scripted/fake and he begins to try to escape the set of the show.
Personally I like how the director added small details in the film that make it more realistic like its a television show. For example, when Truman's lawn mower broke down. Her wife came in and suggested that he buy this new model called “____”. Which is basically the show directors trying to sneak in an advertisement and at the same time. Trying to make sure Truman doesn’t know that his life is fake.
Overall I think that the movie deserves the 95% rating, because not only does the movie have a good plot. The director spent a lot of time and details on the movie so everything makes sense.
