Fancy Dresses, hotshot celebrities, and cameras flashing everywhere you go. This describes the Met Gala, also known as the “SuperBowl of Red Carpets”. The Met Gala is an elite party for fashionistas and the famous. It takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and is a fundraising benefit for the venue. The Met is commonly known for outrageous outfits created to adhere to the theme. The 2022 theme is, In America: An Anthology of Fashion and is almost like “Part 2” to the 2021 Met. However, The dress code this year is “Gilded Glamour” and the attire can be seen on Monday, May 2.
The Met Gala was created in 1948 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert and raised money for the new Costume Institute. Most attendees were high-class New York City citizens and members of the fashion industry. The venues varied over time and eventually formed into the exclusive event it is today.
The Met is estimated to host around 600 visitors on the exciting evening and at least 15 million watchers from home. It can be viewed on Vogue live streams, Social Media, and television. The red carpet festivities are estimated to last from 6 Eastern Time and into the night.
