Warm Weather Signalling an End to Trap Season

By: Sophia Friebel

t is no shock that the summer-like weather has snuck up on us all. Straight from winter coats to t-shirts and shorts. So that means that all day trap events are much more gruesome with the heat. On Monday, May 9th, during trap it was 90 degrees out with full sun for the duration of a two hour practice.

Shooters are also used to shooting with more gear to keep warm, so it was a big change in the feel of the gun while shooting with less layers between the gun and arm. At least it wasn’t windy or raining as one of the athletes voiced how, “The warm weather does not really affect me when I’m shooting, but wind and rain do have a big effect on how I do.”

With the coming of summer and trap season ending soon, many shooters are also preparing for state. One athlete that is going stated, “I am going to state and I feel a little nervous because I haven't been to a meet that big before so I don’t know what to expect.”

All in all, it has been a great trap season so far and it is looking like it might be a little warm for the rest of the season, but that doesn’t change the enjoyment that can be found in shooting.
