The PV girls tennis team scored a major victory this Tuesday against Bettendorf with a score of 6 -3.
Many people anxiously watched on as PV defended their undefeated title this season without their No. 1 varsity player, Lauren Masengarb, who was out due to an elbow injury. The crowd vividly remembers the last singles point, a point between PV’s Trinity O’Brien and Bettendorf’s Emma Porter, which had many people leaning over the railings as each point brought them to another tie. That match had to go to a tiebreaker, and Trinity managed to snatch the win despite the pressure. After her win, she stated, “I think I played alright in that game, not my best, but I managed to push through.”
Overall, PV managed to win a majority of both their singles and doubles points, and the team was able to celebrate with pizza afterward. “We haven’t lost a duel meet yet, and we’re hoping to keep that going,” says No. 3 varsity player Khavia Kalathur. This season for the girls has been tough, with the weather canceling many of their meets, but they’ve persevered through the troubles and continue to play their game.
