Mother's Day 2022

By: Peyton Shields

Mother’s Day is fast approaching! It is on the second Sunday of May each year, meaning that it is on the 8th of this year. That’s this Sunday! If you don't have plans yet, now is the time to make them. Many students are getting ready for the holiday. Unfortunately, most kids have trouble remembering what day it is on, so if you’re one of those people, Mother’s Day is this Sunday!

After questioning 15 students in my ELA class about what day Mother’s Day is on this year, I was met with many answers like “I don’t know”, “Uhhh…”, or just “no”. Only four of the 15 kids knew what day Mother’s Day was on.

On the other hand, many students have Mother’s Day traditions. Some kids get their moms gifts. Abby Kunkel said, “In the past, I got her these really comfy shoes that she wanted.” Other kids make the day special by making things for their moms. Atharva Anthati said, “I make breakfast like coffee and pancakes.” Some kids work together with their whole family to ensure the day is great. Eliza Shamrell said, “I make her breakfast in bed, get her a present, and make her dinner with my six siblings.”

This Mother’s Day, whether it’s making breakfast or making a card, do something to let your mom know you care. To any moms reading this, you are appreciated. Happy Mother’s Day!
