Agreement To Equal Pay Between Womens U.S. Players and U.S. Soccer

The U.S. Women's National Soccer team has been experiencing inequality between the pay of male and female players over the past several years. According to NBC News, on February 22nd, 2022 the U.S. Women’s National Team finally got what they deserved; years after the group of females filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint. This complaint was over inequality in pay and treatment from 2019. A female super star, Alex Morgan, said in an interview on the “Today” show that “U.S. Soccer has agreed to equalize the prize money moving forward, obviously we call on FIFA to truly equalize that for men's and women’s tournaments.” "That’s really what we set out to do. Equalize on all fronts. It’s a proud moment for all of us”. The New York Times reveals that the pay the women are receiving is 24 million dollars, that being the same amount the men are paid. This is a huge breakthrough for the Women’s National Team, and for women in sports overall.
