With around 40 students going out for the cheer tryouts on Friday, emotions are all over the place. These tryouts will determine whether these cheerleaders will secure a spot on the High School team as incoming freshmen. Every cheerleader seems to have a different view on the tryouts.

Abigail Kunkel is a student trying out for the team, and this is what she has to say about the tryouts, “I’m nervous but I’m also really excited to do it. I enjoyed the clinics leading up to the tryouts and learned cheers and reviewed the fight song. My favorite part was when we had free time at the end and the coaches would play our songs and everyone would start dancing,”. Kunkel not only expresses her feeling on the tryouts she loves the practices leading up to them. It shows that the students have been having fun and practicing so that they can do well at the tryouts.

Even students not trying out are excited to cheer on their friends. One of those students is Ishika Desai. Desai says, “I’m not trying out myself, but I’m excited for my friends who are, and I really hope they get in. It just makes the transition more real knowing that all these different things are going on. Again, I really hope that they get in,”. Desai seems to be just as excited, even though she isn’t trying out herself. It’s true that these tryouts make the fact that 8th graders are truly going to high school and have started to choose their paths.

The tryouts seem to be bringing out all kinds of emotions. Mainly these tryouts will help determine who gets a spot on the High school team since all the eighth graders are now transitioning. It’ll help them set a path for themselves in high school, as extracurriculars are just as important as anything else. So let’s cheer on these cheerleaders!
