What Do Students Need To Be Successful Before Competing

This week, the Pleasant Valley Junior High track students will participate in two meets, Tuesday and Thursday, with only one rest day in between (not 7th graders). After only two meets, many have realized the importance of nutrition before as well as after the competition. Whether it's through protein intake or proper hydration, there still remain many components for the success of athletes.
For example, last week, the first meet of the season took place on Monday and the last thing athletes needed was malnutrition just prior to the competition. For lunch, students were served pizza, and though it is true that people can simply choose another option, they were still given the opportunity. This will only upset the stomach before running as the digestion time is far longer than any other healthy meal can offer.
Instead, students should try to stay hydrated the day prior to track meets in order to avoid any cramps while running. Not only that, but eating a nutritious and protein-filled meal is also crucial for people to reach their full potential throughout the competition. As the difficult meets are ahead, athletes should try to stay hydrated and get the proper nutrition to be their best throughout the competition.
