District band night was held on Monday April 25 at the TaxSlayer Center. The concert featured all of the Pleasant valley bands including; the combined sixth grade bands, the seventh garage gray band, the seventh garage blue band, the combined eight grade band, and the high school concert band, symphonic band, wind ensemble and wind symphony. Overall there were around 710 band students playing that night.
The eight grade combined band played two songs during the concert. Their first song was Nebula by Randall Standrige, and the second song was Metrix by Robert Sheldon. And at the end all of the bands played a song together called Freedom Finale by Michael Story.
Some students felt that the concert went really well like eighth grader Abby Kunkel said, “I felt that the concert went well. All of the bands did great, and I really enjoyed hearing all of the bands play.” On the other hand eighth grader Sherry Tang said, “Hated it - too long,” There were very opposing views when it came to district band night.
A common complaint from eight grade students was that the last song Freedom Finale wasn’t played to the students best abilities. “Our last song, Freedom Finale, was not the best and could have been much better.” was what eighth grader Sophia Friebel said about the Freedom Finale. When mentioning the Freedom Finale eighth grader Oliver Kremer siad, “I think the final song we all played together was an absolute disaster though, it is already hard enough for a singular band to stay together and trying to play a mass piece with 710 people is extremely hard to do with everyone playing at the same time.”
As you can see the concert went very well as a whole but as a group the students would have improved on playing together for Freedom Finale.
