This upcoming week Pleasant Valley school district is set to have their end of year district band concert at the Taxslayer center. It is set to be held at 7:00pm, Monday, April 25, featuring all the Pleasant Valley bands from sixth grade all the way up to senior band.
In band rehearsal, students are working on the different songs set to be played at the concert, including Nebula, Freedom Finale, and Metrix. There are two seventh grade bands at the junior high, as well as two eighth grade bands. Seventh grade will perform as two different bands, but the eighth grade bands are set to play as one, even though they have never played together before. Eliza Shamrell voiced her opinion on this topic saying, “I’m a little worried about combining bands with only one rehearsal, but I feel like it will be okay.”
Last year over 840 kids participated in band, this year there is an estimated that there are over 900 students in band from grades 6-12. Pleasant Valley band has been striving for excellence for over 50 years and they plan on striving for many more. In closing, although some nerves may be high leading up to this final performance of the year, it is looking to be a great performance.
