Top 5 French Desserts

By: Ellie Ziegelbein

There are so many delicious desserts from France, but I believe that these are the best. These french sweets will make your mouth water, and they are perfect for valentines day or mothers day.

1.Chocolate Souffle

Soufflés are light and puffy cakes made with egg yolks, beaten egg whites, and a variety of other ingredients. A good chocolate souffle will have a rich chocolate flavor with a light and airy outer texture that practically melts in your mouth. As you get closer to the center of the souffle, the texture becomes creamier and more custardy.

Recipe

“We were nervous making a souffle for the first time. We followed the instructions to a T, watched the video, and they turned out AMAZING!!! The texture was perfect, the rise was so high…we will definitely make this again. Thanks for making this so easy for souffle newbies!”-Emily (comment from recipe website)

2.Choux à la Crème (cream puffs)

Choux à la Crème are tiny balls of puff pastry filled with sweet cream, usually flavored with vanilla but it can also be chocolate, coffee or pistachio.

3.Éclairs

An éclair is a long and thin individual cake made out of choux pastry. This fabulous dessert is topped with milk chocolate and filled with cream. Usually, classic chocolate eclairs have a creamy vanilla pastry cream filling. It's almost like a vanilla pudding, with a prominent vanilla flavor and not too sweet.

“My sister’s and I LOVE your recipes and have never been disappointed. You have become our Gold Standard! Made the eclairs and boy, were they delicious! No pictures because, well, I should’ve watched the video before I jumped in with both feet. Mine were a little crooked. Otherwise another keeper! Thank you!”-Christine (comment from recipe website)

  1. Crème Brûlée

Crème brûlée is a sweet, thick custard made with egg yolks, cream, sugar, and vanilla. And then there is, of course, the topping, which makes all the difference. Once the custard is served in small round dishes, brown sugar is poured evenly on top, then caramelized with a blowtorch.

“This recipe is amazing, it never fails to impress me or my guests, easy to follow instructions and amazing flavour. I have made these on three separate occasions and I never leave any comments for anything but felt compelled to leave a comment I am that happy 👍🏼😁”-mcinnisemmau70PYaml (comment from recipe website)

5.Macarons

These small, round cookie sandwiches are made with a sweet meringue that is light and crunchy on the outside and a creamy filling that is chewy on the inside. Originally made with almond meringue and a creamy ganache, macarons today come in many different flavors and combinations.
