Unless you’ve been living under a rock for a while, you know that 90’s hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg is coming to the TaxSlayer center this Thursday. Did I only write this completely relevant article because I wanted an excuse to look up Snoop Dogg on my school computer? Maybe. Since being signed by Dr.Dre on Death Row Records in 1991, Snoop’s music has been widely successful. The next year, he was heavily featured on Dre’s album The Chronic, which included what some would argue is the best song of the 90’s, “Nuthin’ but a G Thang.” Since that time, he has released over twenty albums. Snoop Dogg also performed at this year’s Super Bowl alongside the likes of fellow 2001 artists Eminem and Dr.Dre, as well as queen of hip-hop soul Mary J. Blige and “HUMBLE'' rapper Kendrick Lamar. This Thursday’s concert will feature Snoop Dogg along with fellow “Big Subwoofer” artist Ice Cube, another of Dr.Dre’s 90’s proteges. Also featured will be Warren G., fellow 90’s West Coast hip-hop star and artist of “Regulate.” The current set list includes classic Snoop Dogg hits such as “The Next Episode,” previously mentioned “Nuthin’ but a G Thang,” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Original 1991 song “Who Am I? What’s My Name?” to the newer hit “Young, Wild, & Free,” were also included on the current list. Reviews say that Snoop Dogg is a great musical artist to see live. If seeing Snoop Dogg in concert is still on your list, don’t worry, tickets are still available for purchase.
