There are many different opinions on passion projects. There are many people that think that passion projects are beneficial and some that would argue it’s quite pointless. Passion projects are an assignment that all eighth grade students had to do. They had eight weeks to work on something that they were passionate about, and at the end they presented their journey and their final project.
I interviewed different students after the passion projects were over and their opinions were very different from each other. Andie VanDerSchaaf said, “ I find them a little stupid”, she said, “I understand they want to find what our passion is but they could find it a different way then giving us an assignment.” Andie thinks that the passion project was a waste of our time because it caused her more stress instead of her finding her passion.
Other students have a very different viewpoint on the project. Another student Sid Thapa said, “I think that they are kind of beneficial, but also not because you aren’t going to reach your end goal in time or it will be really hard to, but you are still going to improve on what your end goal was making it beneficial.” Sid had a very different viewpoint where he thought that it was beneficial because he improved a lot on his skills. This just shows how different students' opinions are on passion projects.
