With the end of the year coming close students are getting ready for the summer. Students are very excited for the end of the school year. But some students are nervous for the start of highschool.
I asked some of my peers how they felt about the end of the school year. Sophia Friebel said, “I am really looking forward to the end of the school year. I am excited that I will have more time to do things that I enjoy rather than spending so much time in school. I hope to spend lots of time with my friends over the summer and am excited for the hot weather.” A response like Sophia’s was very common. Abby Kunkel said, “I am excited for the end of the year. I am also excited to end 8th grade”. Like Sophia and Abby, so many other students are looking forward to the end of school and the start of summer.
On the downside, eighth graders, soon to be freshman, have the worry of moving schools and becoming highschool students. The stress of starting high school can really bring the excitement of the summer down. Students like Eva Vargas and Peyton Shield are nervous about changing schools. Eva said, “I am scared that I will not know many people or any of my new teachers. I love my teachers this year and I really don't want to leave them.” Peyton had a similar viewpoint, “I am nervous about going to high school. Especially with being online last year, I feel like I've only been at the junior high for a short time.” Many students are also probably feeling the same worries and Eva and
Peyton.
In conclusion, the sweet part about the summer is the excitement of no school and warm weather, but on the bittersweet side there are worries and nerves about going to high school.
