The American Enterprise Project is intended to develop knowledge about the American Enterprise System through practical experience and community based participation. There are multiple pillars of the system; this year, we are focusing on entrepreneurship.
The chapter will learn how entrepreneurship affects businesses through community involvement with student run businesses.
There are 5 pillars of the American Enterprise System. We decided to focus on entrepreneurship because we feel it is an important aspect of many student run businesses, as they would not be able to start their business without it.
Entrepreneurship is about taking risks and making changes in a business venture.
As part of the project, we will teach our chapter about entrepreneurship and how it relates to student lead businesses. We will accomplish this by having members work with the businesses, as well as through mini-projects to promote the businesses and surveys.
We also volunteered in multiple events to spread entrepreneurship in our community. During the Arizona Children's Business Fair in November, our members helped children start their own businesses and sell products at a fair. In April, our members volunteered at Slope Fest and ran a table where children could color in their own storefront, effectively spreading entrepreneurship.
The logos for all of our chapter projects were designed to be simple and cohesive. The American Enterprise Project logo has a graphic of the pillars of the American Enterprise System. The green adds a connection to our school.
Community Involvement
In order to involve the community, our chapter members ran a business on school grounds to experience what it is like, as well as give students a daily business experience through Slope Central. Through their involvement, the members have influence on the products Slope Central sells as well as the promotion for Slope Central.
The members also had influence in the other student run businesses as they made promotional material for them.
Lasting Impact
Our project has provided youth with knowledge and experience with entrepreneurship within the American Enterprise System. Kids who participated in the Arizona Children's Business Fair gained sales and presentation experience. Students gained skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, customer service, and problem solving.
We implemented a strong concept that, we believe, sets Slope Central up for success in the future.
