I'm posting this on June 4, as my power was out during the time I would have posted this, but in this post I am going to refer to June 3 as "today."
Welcome to our sixth Countdown to Summer blog post! At around 12:45 today, a strong thunderstorm hit Newtown and the surrounding area, knocking out power for a good portion of NMS students. I was one of those students, and my WiFi/Internet connection is unavailable while the power is out. This prompted me to start thinking of ways to entertain yourself without using a phone or computer! One of these ways made it onto the news this week (stay tuned!) but I will admit I didn't come up with that idea. Here are some ideas I did come up with:
Board games, especially with family members
Flashlight tag! Maybe a little childish, but still fun if the power is out and you have younger siblings
Drawing or coloring
Take a walk- it sounds simple, but it's a really nice break from doing schoolwork or spending all day on the computer
I really enjoy summer storms (though not ones as bad as what we had today). The sound of rain is very pleasing and relaxing, and if it's not raining too hard you can even go out in the rain and enjoy the cool air. Do you agree?
Hopefully everyone is okay and has their power back tomorrow!
