When I joined journalsm, I didn't understand what it meant to tell a story through someone else's lived experience. Now, that very thing guides every article I write. I try to be deliberate in the voices represented and how they are expressed.
My work focuses on bringing complex ideas into articles that are easy to understand. I believe that staying informed, regardless of the topic and one's prior knowledge, is essential. Journalism is best when it invites people to read instead of pushing them away.
When I report, I approach with care and sensitivity, always conscious of my own perspective and how it may influence the things I write. I encourage other writers to seek the truth rather than resorting to a convenient story in order to get a good grade, but because the stories we write matter, to the reporter and to the audience the article serves.Â
