How did STU students spend Halloween?
During October, Stuart Hall leaned into the month's spooky atmosphere. All leading up to, of course, Halloween on the 31st. While celebrated in many countries around the world, no other country compares to the scale of the United State’s Halloween festivities. On Halloween, most of the US was either trick or treating, at a party, or staying at home and watching a scary movie; either way, you were bound to see some pretty scary (or laughable) costumes. Halloween night this year was unusually cold, but that didn’t stop anyone from having fun. Many streets in Staunton saw trick or treaters late into the night.
STU’s Halloween festivities began at the very beginning of the month, with the placing of tiny paper ghosts all throughout the school buildings, some at the top of stairwells or on doorframes. Then, the SGA’s annual October Boo for Your Boo campaign was again, a smashing success, raising double the earnings from last year. Finally, on the 31st, many STU students dressed up at school, either for red/white points or for fun, or maybe even both! Some students chose to dress up as iconic characters, such as Amory Harris (10) and Lucas Rosolina (11) who dressed as Mia and Seb from the movie LaLa-Land. Others dressein more humorous costumes, like Sarah Crittenden (8), José Dresden (8), and JP Anderson (8) who went as a sloth, a taco, and a doughnut.
To detail some of STU students' Halloween experience, Libby Gignac (11) was kind enough to share her experiences. She recalls, “Lila and I were in spirit Halloween before Halloween … looking for an easy costume, so we decided to be police officers.” Which most people can find truth in. Spirit Halloween, a seasonal costume store, is one of the fastest stops if you’re looking for a silly costume with limited time. “We went out for a little bit over the weekend but everything was pretty low key. We ate a lot of candy and hung out with some friends.”
Though it’s almost mid November, it’s still important to highlight the experiences of the past. See you next Halloween, which is only (#) days away! (Some costume images below!)
