What is ADAPT?

The North Penn Academic Discussion and Peer Tutoring club, or ADAPT for short, is a community-service club that offers North Penn High School students peer tutoring services and an academic support network.

The ADAPT club offers one-on-one tutoring to students who need help in any academic area by matching a "peer-tutor". Tutors are available to help in any subject for any level, including APs. Not only can a peer tutor provide personalized, up-to-date academic guidance, but also they can do so with the empathy that only someone who has recently been in the student’s shoes can provide.

Who Are Peer Tutors?

ADAPT peer tutors are selected for this role by being either recognized by faculty or through an extensive application process that illustrates their ability to be knowledgeable, reflective, and effectively communicate the expectations and demands needed for mastery of your chosen subjects. We believe that tutors possess more than just a high GPA; effective tutors understand the obstacles and challenges inherent in learning. Our tutors have developed a meta-cognitive awareness that enables them to teach others how to approach, engage and problem solve. Tutors understand that a key to academic success is building the courage and maturity to become more interdependent; in fact, many of our tutors continue to access tutoring for their courses. Tutors understand learning happens best in a community and find great reward in helping their peers.

What is Peer Tutoring?

Peer tutoring is a free resource available to all North Penn High School students.

Peer tutoring at NPHS is not remedial; it is supplemental. Peer tutoring aims to strengthen your foundational knowledge or concepts and find new approaches to overcome the complexity. You can meet with a peer tutor at any stage in the learning process whether you’re challenged by the material or just need some accountability and someone to talk things through.
