Welcome to HCHS Pathway Exploration!

Our Goal:  Every Harrison County High School Student becomes LIFE READY!

What is Life Ready?

When students graduate from HCHS being Life Ready means any or a combination of the following:

Pathway Completer

A student is considered a completer in a pathway by taking and successfully passing 4 courses in a specified pathway.  After completing three courses students are eligible to take different exams to show proficiency in the pathway.  Some of the exams offer industry certifications that students can immediately use in the workforce.  A student that is a pathway completer could go straight to the workforce, a 2 year tech college, or a 4 year college.

HCHS and the ATC collaborate to offer over 25 career pathways for Harrison County students!

College Ready

A student is considered college ready by meeting Kentucky ACT Benchmarks.  The benchmarks are:  English 18, Mathematics 19, Reading 20, and Science 23.  Students can take the ACT at any point throughout their high school career.  Visit the ACT Website to see dates and sign up.  Students will have the opportunity to take the ACT as a junior for free at HCHS.  It's usually offered in March of their junior year.

A student can be both a pathway completer and college ready!

Military Ready

A student is considered military ready if they successfully complete entrance to the military branch of their choice.  Requirements vary based on the branch.  The ASVAB can help determine what military career a student could pursue.  Many military recruiters visit HCHS throughout the school year.  If you have specific questions about different military branches and entrance qualifications you can research their websites or talk to your student's counselor.

A student that is military ready can also be a pathway completer and college ready!
