Dr. Edna Kennedy

Superintendent

I am blessed to serve as the Superintendent of the Burton Independent School District where we believe that all students can learn if provided the right opportunity for growth and development. As the educational leader in Burton ISD, I have seen tremendous improvements to the academic and extra-curricular programs offered that will help prepare our students for successful experiences in the future. We welcome you to visit our district to find out more about our awesome students and staff.

Personally… My husband David and I are fortunate to share 12 pretty amazing grandchildren. We spend most of our time raising cattle, when we are not following those grandkids all over the state with their activities. Just loving life!!!

Professionally… I am a proud graduate of Goldthwaite High School. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, specializing in Language and Learning Disabilities from Tarleton State University. I attended Angelo State University to earn a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and then returned to Tarleton State University as one of the first cohort members to complete a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. I consider myself an advocate for all children and I am always open to new learning opportunities!

GO PANTHERS!!!

Caitlyn Blakey

BUSINESS MANAGER

I grew up here in Burton and have always loved the small town atmosphere. I went to Burton schools from elementary through high school. After getting my Business Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University, I knew I wanted to head back home. I started working with the district in July 2019. I love the beach and sunshine. I have 3 fur babies at home. The simple things in life make me happy. Burton, Texas means so much to me. The sense of community here is undeniable, and it's the perfect place to bring your kids to grow to love life. I'm excited to see what amazing things Burton ISD will accomplish this year!
