SUPERINTENDENT
Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I am eager to engage with students, families, and staff to understand your aspirations and concerns. I am excited about the future and the incredible opportunities that lie ahead.
I began my public education career as an elementary teacher in Galveston ISD. I’ve worked in various district sizes from Galveston, Spring, Coldspring-Oakhurst, and Burton. My 30 years of experience include being a classroom teacher, instructional coach, Counselor, Assistant Principal, Principal, Executive Director, and Assistant Superintendent.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Sam Houston State University, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M University, and Superintendent Certification from Region 6.
My dedication to fostering academic excellence, promoting personal growth, and building strong community connections has guided my journey in education. I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a supportive and engaging learning environment. I understand the importance of hard work, perseverance, and the vital role education plays in shaping our future leaders.
My passion is to create an environment where every student feels valued, is excited to attend school, and is empowered to reach their full potential. I have been married for 30 years to my husband, Tyrum, who also works in education. We have two sons, Joshua and Jared, who have pursued careers in the field of education.
Together, we will continue to strive to uphold high standards of academic achievement, cultivate a culture of inclusivity, and ensure that our schools remain a safe and welcoming place for all. Let's work hand in hand to make our district an even better place for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.

I grew up here in Burton and have always loved the small town atmosphere. I went to Burton schools from elementary through high school. After getting my Business Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University, I knew I wanted to head back home. I started working with the district in July 2019. I love the beach and sunshine. My little boy makes my world go round. Burton, Texas means so much to me. The sense of community here is undeniable, and it's the perfect place to bring your kids to grow to love life. I'm excited to see what amazing things Burton ISD will accomplish this year!
