Mrs. Lazo

Week of May 18, 2020

As we begin a new week, I am encouraging and reminding students of the importance of remaining connected to your subjects, teachers, and classmates. The grade for the third trimester period will be very important for students and I want them to use their time to improve their overall grade. Making the most of this very challenging reality can be done by completing the assignments and meets by teachers which will undoubtedly improve your final grade on a students' report card.

Also, with the cancellation of NYS 6th Grade Math exams, students will see the overall grades for the third marking period to be as important as those of the first two. As a result, sustaining your best effort will remain important. Continue to submit assignments for credit this marking period. If students are having difficulty submitting assignments online, please ask or contact your teachers via email to address the problem.

Reminders:

* Check- in with your Homeroom teacher Mondays thru Thurdays no later than 10:00 AM

* Math assignments are due at 3:00 PM everyday, but may work on them till the end of the week. Use Fridays as "making up/complete/submit work day".

* Religion assignments (5-2) are given once per week.

* Zoom Meetings: (5-1) - Tuesdays 11:00 - 12:00

(5-2) - Tuesdays 10:00 - 11:00

(6-1) - Thursdays 10:00 - 11:00

(6-2) - Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

I will be adding another Zoom Meet schedule for each class beginning this week. Please let me know the best second day and time for your class. Make sure the day and time won't interfere your other class meetings.

* New Math Tool for Grade 5

Our class has an option to learn extra Math online using Happy Numbers. It's a web-based PK - 5 math toll that moves students along at your own pace based on responses and provides helpful feedback after any errors. Although the exercises are all fun, interactive, and visually appealing, don't be fooled! You'll be gaining valuable practice in important Math skills.

Follow these simple steps to use Happy Numbers at home:

1.) Go to Google Classroom Stream

2.) Click Happy Numbers.com

3.) Click the "Im a Student" button

4.) Enter our Class Number ( 698540)

5.) Select your name from the class list

6.) Enter your password ( email me for password)

The first task for you is to complete a 20-question Placement Test to determine your appropriate starting point in the Happy Numbers curriculum.

It's recommended to use Happy Numbers 15-20 minutes a day, up to 3 -5 times a week.

Stay Well and Safe!
