Week Commencing 17/06/24 Term 6 2023-2024
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of another productive week at Strood Academy, I am delighted to share with you some highlights from Week 3 celebrating the conclusion of the examination period for our Year 11 and Year 13 students.
Over the last eight school weeks, our students have displayed remarkable dedication and perseverance in preparing for their examinations, and I extend my sincerest gratitude to all for their hard work and commitment during this challenging period.
This week's highlights include a touching Year 11 guard of honour on Monday as we bid farewell to our Year 11 pupils after their examinations. A special thank you goes out to the Year 11 students for generously donating their uniform and PE kits to the academy, which will greatly benefit our students and families in need of additional support with uniform provision.
Our PE team led a successful outing to Medway Park on Thursday, where our pupils exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and competed admirably against other local schools. I commend our students for representing Strood Academy with such pride and integrity.
We were delighted to open our doors for open mornings, welcoming Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 pupils and their families to explore our academy. The positive feedback from both parents/carers and pupils alike was truly heartening, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming them back in the future.
As we transition into Year 2 of Vision 2028, our Year 6 transition programme is well underway, with visits to local primary schools ensuring a seamless transition for our incoming students. I invite you to mark your calendars for our Year 6 transition day on Thursday 4th July.
Our Year 10 students have exhibited commendable maturity and resilience during their mock examinations, and I commend them for their steadfast dedication to their studies.
I am pleased to report that our after-school English session for pupils in Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 was met with great enthusiasm, thanks to our dedicated English team. Next week, we look forward to focusing on History and Geography in our transition sessions, which have proven to be invaluable opportunities for our local community to engage with our academy.
As the week draws to a close, I urge you to take this weekend to rest and rejuvenate. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in the education of our students at Strood Academy.
Regards,
Mr Jon Richardson

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards and use of foul and inappropriate language
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
As part of our Vision 2028 Engagement Curriculum, we are working to gather regular feedback from all members of the Strood Academy community, through events such as the Parent Voice Forum and feedback surveys. From the feedback gathered earlier on this academic year, we implemented a route of transition around the academy to ensure a smooth and safe journey throughout the academy for all students and staff.
This has been extremely successful so far with students moving through the academy calmly and safely, allowing students to travel to lessons with pace and purpose. We are so grateful for your support with this Engagement Curriculum and hope you will agree that these routines have had a positive impact within our academy.
