Principal's Message
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for your continued support during this module. As we all approach the February half term with great excitement, we are also reflective upon all the fantastic achievements from Module 3.
As we conclude Module 3, I am thrilled to share some exciting news and successes from the previous 6 weeks. This module has been filled with exceptional achievements, demonstrating the dedication and hard work of both students and staff:
Celebrating Success:
Academic Excellence: We are proud to acknowledge our pupils through our brand new MYP badges. These are linked directly to our IB learner profiles. We have also been continuing to issue excellence cards to our Year 11 students for all their hard work. This is a testament to their commitment to learning and their ability to rise to the challenge.
MYP Community Projects: Year 9 are continuing to impress us all with their MYP community projects. They are currently in the planning phases and the vast array of ideas is truly fantastic.
Pupil Leadership Team: We are particularly proud of our pupil leadership team who have been working very hard with Mr Lecky. This week they led our assemblies on mental health. They continue to be an asset to our academy. This perseverance and dedication serve as an inspiration to all our students.
While celebrating achievements, we also recognise the importance of providing targeted support to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Several intervention programmes are in place for our Year 11 students as they prepare for their summer examination:
Subject Specific Interventions: After school interventions are continuing to be offered in all subjects as we progress into Module 4. This enables our teachers to address specific learning gaps identified. These sessions provide personalised support and additional practice opportunities.
Intervention during Period 1 and Wednesday P5: We are using additional time to support pupils with revision and examination preparation. These sessions include effective study techniques, time management, and exam preparation strategies. These skills are crucial for success in upcoming exams and beyond.
Half term intervention: Please encourage your child to attend the sessions during the half term period. The schedules are highlighted below for you. We have also provided online resources for pupils to access.
Year 11 mocks: This week our Year 11 pupils received an assembly in preparation for their mocks on the return to school in Module 4.
We encourage all Year 11 students and their families to actively engage with these intervention programmes. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure every student feels confident and prepared for their upcoming exams and future endeavours.

Year 13 pupils are also encouraged to attend intervention sessions and engage with examination preparation. All details can be found here:

I ask that you all have a restful and safe half term break. Please ensure you spend some time with family, friends and engage in some of the activities we sometimes do not get the time for during the busy school terms.
We look forward to welcoming pupils back to the academy on Monday 19th February. A reminder that our academy main gates close at 8:30am.
During the break, please do remind yourself of our uniform expectations. Our pupils continue to look incredibly smart each and every day and wear their uniform with pride.

Since coming back after the Christmas holidays, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups, the assembly protocol and focusing on transitions around the academy building; encouraging students are moving between lessons with pace and purpose and ensuring all students feel safe when moving around the academy
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards, litter around the academy, use of foul and inappropriate language and body language within lessons; ensuring all students are presenting as focused and ready to learn
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy, where students are aware of the expectations around homework as well as the importance of this
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Improving relations with parents, carers and the local community through information shared social media platforms and in Weekly Parent Bulletins
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings, Year 7 Meet the Form Tutor, Parent Voice Forums and Parental Drop-Ins as well as tools such as 'Request Call Back' button and college-specific email addresses
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
