Week 4
Module 2 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your continued support. We have had another busy week here at Leigh Academy Strood. I have been visiting lessons and reviewing the quality of work within our pupils’ books. It is truly inspiring to witness the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our students each day. Well done to all.
As you may be aware, we are experiencing some cooler days. Please ensure your child has a coat to keep them warm during this season.
This week, we have also spent time with our Year 11 pupils discussing their next steps and ensuring we are well-prepared to support them in progressing to their chosen destinations. It is encouraging to see how many students wish to continue onto Sixth Form now that we have launched Atlas College.
In September, we launched T-Levels, and our Year 12 cohort visited the financial district in London on Wednesday to gain workplace experience. Our pupils are embracing this new course and making excellent progress. They will soon commence their work placements in the summer term.
Today, we welcomed Mr Markham, Headteacher at Bligh, who joined us for the morning. Mr Markham is one of our governors and is responsible for safeguarding. It was a pleasure to provide a thorough academy tour and to reconnect with many former Bligh pupils.
Next week, we look forward to participating in the LAT Badminton events, and we are confident our pupils will perform remarkably well. Additionally, our Spanish pupils are excited about their trip to a restaurant to experience the finest Spanish cuisine. We also have a Year 7 Performing Arts trip to the Marlowe Theatre taking place on Thursday evening.
As you know, it is essential to provide such opportunities for pupils to develop a broader perspective of the curriculums they are studying.
Have a restful weekend, and we look forward to welcoming pupils back to the academy on Monday from 8:00 am. Please be reminded that the main gate closes at 8:30 am.
Sending best wishes,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, the Highest Reward Points across different year groups, and the MYP Thinker Award.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
