Week 5
Module 4 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to share an overview of the exciting events and activities that have taken place at Leigh Academy Strood this week. It has been a busy and productive time for our students and staff alike.
This week, we held assemblies on T-Levels for Year 10, alongside further college assemblies focusing on protected characteristics.
Our performance of “Mary Poppins,” featuring students from Leigh Academy Peninsula East and Cuxton Primary Academy, was a tremendous success, and I would like to extend my congratulations to all involved.
I would also like to express my gratitude to our PTFA for their support during our shows; with all funds being allocated to our Performing Arts team to enhance our resources for future performances.
Additionally, our students participated in a variety of STEM activities, including trips to the University of Greenwich and sessions at the academy with representatives from Rochester Bridge Trust and Grain Powerplant.
Furthermore, we have conducted transition sessions in IT, held transition tours, and hosted our SEND coffee morning.
Our Sixth Form pupils have also had the opportunity to travel to Rome and due back early next week, what a fantastic opportunity for them all!
Yesterday evening, we held our Year 11 Parents’ Evening, which was particularly well attended, with detailed feedback provided on students’ recent mock examinations.
Today, we hosted a careers fair at the academy, showcasing our well-developed seven-year careers journey from Year 7 to Year 13, where students can access comprehensive careers information. Over 30 companies participated in the fair, providing invaluable insights into various career paths.
Looking ahead, our Parent Forum will take place next Tuesday at 6pm, where we will focus on Teaching and Learning. We look forward to sharing our strategies with you.
Please note that we will break up for the half-term on Thursday, 2nd March at 3:20pm, and we look forward to welcoming all pupils back for Module 5 after the Easter break on Monday, 20th April.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
Leigh Academy Strood
Tip: After receiving feedback, ask your child to make one small change or improvement. Acting on feedback builds confidence and reinforces learning.
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, and the Highest Reward Points across different year groups.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
