Week 4
Module 4 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well.
I would like to take a moment to reflect on the exciting week we have had at Leigh Academy Strood. Our students have participated in various activities, including dodgeball tournaments, being crowned Year 7 football district championships, and achieving 1st place within the LAT STEM challenge.
Additionally, we have been engaged in transition sessions, outreach programmes, Year 9 options meetings, MYP community projects, and Year 6 tours.
Our pupils continue to impress us every day. During my visits to lessons this week, I have witnessed the excellent work on display, from Key Stage 3 music students composing their own pieces to sessions in our Endeavour Centre focusing on grammar and spelling. In every classroom I entered, I observed pupils working tirelessly to improve each and every day.
Looking ahead to next week, we have a number of important events scheduled. Year 13 Criminology assessments will take place throughout the week. Mary Poppins rehearsals are underway, with performances planned for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings. Community Projects will continue on Wednesday during Personal Development for Year 9, and another Think Forward trip is also set to take place. Our Sixth Form pupils will be heading to Rome. Furthermore, our SEND coffee morning is scheduled, along with a STEM challenge in the Sports Hall on Thursday, as well as a trip to Grain. Please note that Year 11 Parents’ Evening will occur from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, and we will have additional Year 6 transition tours taking place on Friday morning. Finally, next Saturday, we will support our Year 11 pupils with an English and Maths day to aid their preparation for examinations.
We look forward to welcoming pupils back on Monday morning at 8am.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Jon Richardson

Tip: Encourage your child to plan their work before starting. Writing down steps or key points helps them work independently and stay focused.
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, and the Highest Reward Points across different year groups.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
