Week 1
Module 3 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year!
I hope you have enjoyed a restful Christmas break. It has been a pleasure this week to welcome the pupils back to the academy. They have settled in very well, demonstrating perfect uniform and great effort in all lessons.
We encourage pupils to bring a coat to school each day due to the current temperatures, and I trust you are continuing to support this message at home.
This week, we have had a range of assemblies, including a guest speaker from the Department of Work and Pensions. It is always a pleasure to provide our pupils with further insight into careers and their future destinations.
Our Year 12 IB Media pupils visited Canterbury Christ Church University today, which was another fantastic opportunity for them. We have also commenced the new year with numerous examinations for Year 11, Year 12, and Year 13, which will continue into next week. It has been wonderful to see the pupils so engaged and well-prepared for these important assessments.
Next week, we wish our footballers the best of luck as they compete in the LAT 5-a-side tournament; we are confident they will perform exceptionally well. Additionally, I would like to remind you that on Thursday, 15th January, from 4 pm to 7 pm, we will be holding our Year 8 Parents’ Evening. We look forward to seeing you then. Should you have any issues with the online booking system, please contact your child’s college team. Thank you for your continued support, and I wish you a restful weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award and the Highest Reward Points across different year groups.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
